I wish the world could feel more empathy We'd all be less disconnected and empty If people could really see what's in eachothers' eyes To the centre depths of who they are inside We'd see the joys, the pains and all that resides To make up individual histories and our timelines To build a humanity that aligns Linked by common vibrations synced up and combined Do you feel? Do you feel? Do you feel what they feel? (repeat 4x) I wish the world could feel more empathy We'd all be less disconnected and empty If people could really see what's in eachothers' eyes To the centre depths of who they are inside We'd see the wins, the loss, and to compromise And value the symmetry of our parallel lives The shared experiences we so often hide No longer hidden, dismissed, gaslit or denied Do you feel? Do you feel what they feel? (Repeat)

Leaving us broken, I am open to a new embrace. All I wanted to see was what I wanted to face… Can you hear me? (Can you hear me talking?) Can you hear me? (Can you see me walking away?) Is anybody out there, anyone like me (Anyone…anyone, like me?) Are you watching (Are you watching, waiting?) Are you listening? (Waiting and anticipating?) Can you hear me? (Is there anyone..anyone like me?) Can you hear me? Left us broken I’m open to a new A monkey that you see is a monkey that can do… And to the show it is so entertaining A tightrope of roaming and complaining Although I’d like to shoot you out a human cannonball A vanishing act gets a greater applause And I don’t know if you can hear it or not, Cause you often hear me but you don’t feel it in your heart. Hear me, see me, listening A secret society an invisible position Under the radar, seeking it out Wavelength. Can’t translate it, just say it Explain it back… You speak in codes, In ciphers, in spies Mystery a tone Alone, a moan A known, a groan I don’t have a signal I don’t have a signal & every time I try and get heard it’s like there’s nothing left to say, Because I’ve been saying it with all my heart (Can you hear me talking?) And I’m trying not to fall apart When we sing and shout to get our words out (Can you hear me walking?) I don’t have a signal (Is anybody out there gonna listen to me..) And the people in these streets they weep cause they can’t hear our voices And the voices of those who need us to say what we wanted to say, what they wanted to say, that they wanted us all to say (Can you see me watching?) And we can’t stay because we’re not welcome (Can you see me listening) We’re not welcome in this world. Can you hear me? Cause I can’t see you anywhere…

In the deepest sea the colours come to me Diving in your ride, everywhere to hide In the deepest blue, there’s nothing else to do I have to find a way to make it through this day Searching, reaching Yearning, not fighting I have to find a way Come what may Give me light Give me hope Give me peace and give me home Give me love Give me joy Give me peace and give me life The river calls to me, flowing wild and free Hiding in the reeds, trying to feed your needs The river calls to you, there’s so much we can do I’m sure that there’s a way to make it through our day Searching, reaching Yearning, not fighting I have to find a way Come what may Give me light Give me hope Give me peace and give me home Give me love Give me joy Give me peace and give me life Searching, reaching Yearning, not fighting I have to find a way Come what may

I want something, I can't quite put my finger on Would you tell me, You are mine, you are mine, you are mine Late at night I'm by the river calling for it to take me home Will you be the first to respond I wish you'd touch me again like when you'd pretend we were only friends But when you're holding me and I'm holding you Ahhh, nothing but this sweet solitude Could make me cry more than this ever could And sweet lullabys wouldn't soothe me like your touch would so I will choose to stay right here with you

1. Intro/spoken word Stirring in the void of nothingness, the beat of the drum, the first sound, calling the unmanifested into existence. The vibration which birthed the universe. The rhythm of the drum, like the sound of our mothers heart beat in the womb. Her blood pulsing through our arteries, birthing us into creation. Woman, creatrix of sound, what have we lost? What have we forgotten? How has the history of women been distorted? Remember the rituals of the earliest known religions, centred on the drum, it is your birth right. Come home within yourself, know your roots are your veins they anchor you. Give a beat to your pain it will free you, And in this dance of creation, the drummers were women. 2. Jai Ma mantra: Calling in the mother - Jai Ma is a powerful Sanskrit mantra that means “praise to the Divine Mother, who offers her protection.” - This mantra is used to invoke the Divine Mother energy within and offer thanks to Mother Earth. 3. Što j pa moru (Out There on the Sea) This is a Belarusian folk ballad of the Early Middle Ages Što j pa moru, što j pa moru Što j pa moru, moru siniamu Što j pa moru, moru siniamu Tam plavala, tam plavala Tam plavala staja bielych liebiadziej Tam plavala staja bielych liebiadziej There by the sea, there by the sea There by the blue sea There by the blue sea There floated, there floated There floated a flock of white swans There floated a flock of white swans 4. Build up Breathe into your fear. Breathe into your frustration. Breathe into your rage, give them shape, give them shape. Journey with us, dance, let go. Journey with us, dance, let go.

about

Responding directly to the gender imbalance in music, GRL designed a 6-month programme for early-stage musicians to take the next steps towards musical independence. This sought to develop participants’ songwriting, production, performance and recording skills as well as build confidence and grow their networks. The culmination of the project was a live showcase and this album!

The programme was led by women, trans and non-binary musicians, educators and producers using trauma-informed principles. It was delivered both online and in-person through a series of workshops, mentoring sessions and studio recording sessions.

Participants wrote their tracks either in the rehearsal room or remotely through their Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) which were then mixed and mastered by the incredible team from Omni Collective to bring you this amazing collection of songs!
